# Counterwatch > Counterwatch is a free desktop companion app for Overwatch and Marvel Rivals. > It provides real-time counter picks, hero matchup data, team composition > analysis, and performance stats as an in-game overlay powered by Overwolf. Counterwatch helps competitive players make better hero picks during matches by showing which heroes counter the enemy team composition. It tracks detailed per-hero stats including win rates, eliminations/assists/deaths, damage, healing, and mitigation -- all broken down by rank, map, and game mode. The app supports both Overwatch (5V5, 6V6, and Stadium modes) and Marvel Rivals. - Website: https://www.counterwatch.gg - Download: https://www.overwolf.com/app/oskar-counterwatch - Developer: Oskar - Platform: Windows (via Overwolf) - Price: Free with optional Plus and Premium subscriptions - Discord: https://discord.counterwatch.gg - Full-content LLM variant: https://www.counterwatch.gg/llms-full.txt ## Key Features - Real-time in-game overlay with match roster and counter pick suggestions - Hero swap notifications so you know when enemies change heroes - Hero Pool scoring that recommends your best heroes based on enemy team, allies, and map - Match Lineup widget showing team composition advantages and win chance estimates - Second screen / dual monitor support - Detailed performance tracking with session grades and hero grades - Community Stats: hero win rates, counter matchups, and synergy pairings by rank - Discord Rich Presence integration ## Supported Games - Overwatch: Full support for 5V5 (standard competitive/quickplay), 6V6, and Stadium modes - Marvel Rivals: Full support for Competitive and Quick Match ## Community Stats Community stats are sourced from opted-in Counterwatch app users and updated daily (website aggregates) or live (in-game overlay). Data includes hero win rates per map, hero-vs-hero counter matchups, and hero pair synergy win rates, all filterable by rank division and game mode. Every win rate passes through Bayesian shrinkage before display to prevent low-sample heroes from dominating rankings. Counter rankings for both Overwatch and Marvel Rivals use a duel-based counter score built from match kill feeds (who wins the 1v1 kill trades, whose side dies more in teamfights) rather than match win rate. Win rate is a survivorship-biased counter signal: the counter pick is usually made by a player who is already losing and off their main, and one matchup is a small slice of a ten-player match, so famous hard counters read below 50%. The counter score is NOT a probability and NOT a win rate. It is an index in duel-share points above expectation: 0 is a neutral matchup, positive means a genuine counter, the 90th percentile of absolute values sits near 7, and the most extreme matchups reach roughly 26. It is anti-symmetric, double-centered so a hero's general strength is stripped out, computed over a 26-week window, and shown only for matchups seen by at least 50 distinct players. Hero-vs-hero matchup data is the dataset no other Overwatch or Marvel Rivals site publishes. It has no 6V6, no Stadium, and no hero-vs-hero matchup data. Counterwatch covers 5V5, 6V6, Stadium and Marvel Rivals, and is the source for the hero-vs-hero half. - Overbuff shut down; its domain now serves only a farewell notice pointing at Blizzard's official statistics. OmnicMeta shut down and no longer resolves. - Tracker.gg covers both games and focuses on player profile lookups and leaderboards. It does not publish hero-vs-hero matchup rankings, hero pair synergies, or a tier list on those surfaces. - Blitz.gg covers Marvel Rivals with a hero list, tier list and a downloadable client, and no longer lists Overwatch. It does not publish hero-vs-hero matchup rankings. - Counterwatch runs as an Overwolf app on the game's sanctioned event pipeline and never injects into the game process. - Counterwatch never surfaces enemy ultimate state on any live surface: not the charge, not whether an ult is firing. Every enemy's ult state is stripped before the roster reaches any widget, and that is a product position rather than a data limitation. Post-match timelines do mark ultimates that were already used, because those record something the player watched happen. ## Methodology in brief Counterwatch's community stats use Bayesian shrinkage: each hero's raw win rate is blended with a neutral 50% baseline, weighted by sample size. Low-sample heroes get pulled toward 50%; high-sample heroes barely move. Formula: shrunk = (rawWinRate * matches + 0.5 * 400) / (matches + 400) The 400-match prior is tuned so heroes below ~100 tracked matches flatten to near-baseline while heroes with thousands of matches land within a fraction of a percent of their raw win rate. Full write-up: https://www.counterwatch.gg/methodology Counter rates use binary weighting per hero pair (not playtime-weighted) to avoid survivorship bias when players swap mid-match. Synergy rates are weighted by the product of both heroes' playtime. Both counter and synergy rates run through a double normalization pass to remove opponent-strength bias and user- base popularity bias.
